Super Bowl Weekend...Toddler Style!

Colin and I had a very nice weekend and we are now officially gearing up for Jer to come home THIS WEEK! YEA!! I can't wait to hear from him this afternoon so that I can find out exactly when he will be home. I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas...it can't get here fast enought! Luckily tonight is "The Bachelor" which is giving me something else to look forward to. HAHA! The weekend was BEAUTIFUL and Saturday was 75 degrees and sunny. I decided to get my stir crazy little man out of the house for awhile, so we headed over to Town Center to share cookies and walk in the square. Colin was VERY pleased to be running outside and I was very pleased to be eating a cookie from Corner Bakery! We also poked our heads into Gymboree and got Colin the cutest Valentine's shirt...Colin was tolerating the stroller for those 5 minutes, so I jumped on the opportunity. The only down side was that Colin ended up falling asleep in my arms late in the afternoon and I shouldn't have let him. He ended up not going to bed until 11pm...what a disaster! It is just so hard to wake your precious boy who is snuggled deep in your arms asleep...he was just too cute to move! Next time, however, I will know better. I am noticing a new pattern over the last couple of weeks. He takes a fairly early afternoon nap and then at around 3pm, he likes to cuddle up on the couch to watch a show. We call it "getting cozy". He gets very still and lays in my arms for at least 30 minutes and usually gets close to falling asleep. This down time has started replacing the second nap. I absolutely ADORE this, but I am going to be very cautious about him actually falling asleep. Saturday, for example, he dozed from 4 - 4:45 in my arms, which was just way too late for a nap. As long as he stays awake, I think the downtime is great for both of us. Anyway, here is a picture from Saturday afternoon on the square.

Yesterday was Super Bowl Sunday and we had a great day all the way around. We packed up and headed over to Jer's parents house for lunch. Colin was thrilled to see his grandparents and have the chance to terrorize their house! They have a big staircase that he must have gone up and down 50 times. My back aches from hunching over to hold his hands, but he absolutely loved it, so it was worth it. We had my favorite Chicken Tettrazini and even got leftovers to bring home...which will be eaten long before Jer gets home...sorry honey. :-) Jer's mom is an incredible musician and has a stunning piano their front room. Colin's loves to sit in her lap and bang on the keys. He runs straight for it! Yesterday she pulled out an old keyboard that plays demo songs as well as a set of maracas and an old guitar. I am pretty sure Colin thought he was a professional musician. He was banging around on everything and having the best time. I have also noticed that he keeps a beat pretty well...he was dancing to the music from the keyboard and staying right on the beat. It was adorable! I think he is musically inclined...we shall see.

Last night we watched the Super Bowl together until it was time for Colin to go to bed. One of my neighbors was having a HUGE party, so I was nervous they would keep Colin awake...they were literally dancing in the street (I think there was a LOT of alcohol and I think they started drinking at noon). Luckily there was not a problem and Colin slept well. The Steelers won despite all of my well wishes for the Cardinals. I love to root for the underdog. (and they Cowboys let me down. AGAIN.) So there you go...weekend wrap-up complete! Here are some pictures of Colin yesterday afternoon. He was watching Enzo in the back yard because he likes to give him a dog bone when he comes back in. SO CUTE!
