A Party!

Colin and I just got home from a fun Saturday evening event. Jer's good friend Tom was the recipient of a surprise birthday party at their hangar around the corner from our house. There were tons of folks there and Colin was the only kid in attendance, but it still turned out to be a great time. These are all of Jer's pilot friends and since the party was at their private hangar, Colin got to check out the airplanes and watch them take off and land. This tiny little airport is right by the house and boasts homes that line the air strip. It is such a cool place and I would love to own one of the homes one day and have our own little airplane to park there. That would be just amazing. It was such a beautiful place. Colin was right at home (no surprise there) and did not even flinch with all the loud noises of the airplanes starting up and taking off. He is obviously destined to follow in his fathers footsteps. He ran around flirting with all the ladies and he had the whole party eating out of his hands. He has this one move where he shrugs his shoulders and drops his head to one side while he smiles...it is the cutest thing you have ever seen and he knows it! Our friend Dave just adores the little man and he spent a long time throwing him up in the air, flying him through the air like superman and tickling him to death. Colin was eating it up. We stayed for a couple of hours and then came home for bath and bedtime. Below are some of the pictures that I took while we were there.

Daddy and Colin check out John's airplane. The red one is Tom's.

Hey, wait for me!! :-)

Right at home with the airplanes...just like Daddy!

Runny Noses

Well, Colin has a cold and I am not happy about it! We are finally over the stomach flu and here we go with a nice snotty cold. Colin has been sneezing all afternoon and is obviously congested with one heck of a runny nose. I am starting to have a hard time taking Colin out to play in public places because he literally gets sick almost every time he is around other children. For example, I am pretty sure he caught this cold during the Halloween carnival since Jackson also has come down with it. Since Colin stays home with me, he has been remarkably well, which is a blessing. However, when we venture out to public playgrounds, he has no immunity at all to the germs. I need to stay on top of hand washing and just try to keep his hands out of his mouth while we play outside. Good luck on that! :-) I know that I can't keep him locked up inside all winter, but I really hope that we can avoid getting sick every single time we venture out!!

Election Day 2008

I would be remiss if I did not make a note of such an important day in what is basically my online diary. I know that someday I will look back on this day to see what we were doing at the time and how we spent the big day. This is definitely an historic election between McCain and Obama and we have been watching things unfold for so long that I feel exhausted myself. Jer and I both voted early a few days ago, so we were able to avoid the lines today. Colin and I spent the day together as usual and we have been watching Fox News virtually all day long (with a little Playhouse Disney mixed in, of course!). We made a Target run this afternoon for a few odds and ends, but that was the extent of our errands. I made a tangy chicken meal in the crock pot for dinner and it turned out pretty well. I was going to make cupcakes for a fun election night treat, but I forgot the paper cups! Colin took two good naps today, so he was in high spirits and went to bed right on time at 7:30. Jer and I are now curled up in bed watching the election results roll in. Jer and I don't drink very often these days, but he just made us a cocktail (which is quite yummy!). I am on the laptop and he is reading over my shoulder while throwing in things he wants me to say (which I am not going to). :-) I don't talk politics on my blog, but I will say that I love election day and it always reminds me how very proud I am to be an American, regardless of the results. I would imagine that I am in for a very long night of news watching!

ONE YEAR AGO

One year ago...I just can't believe how fast this is all going by!! Look at that precious little three month old angel!! I remember thinking he was getting so big...next Halloween Colin will probably be driving. :-)

The Rose Garden Shoot

We are officially home now from our long weekend at my parents house. We had a great time and Colin was thrilled beyond measure to have an entirely different house to tear around. I had to spend the first hour we were at the house moving all of my mothers nice things to high places. :-) On Saturday afternoon, we all went out to The Rose Garden to attempt a Christmas card photo for my parents. My mom had her heart set on a picture with her grandsons this year...she even bought them adorable matching Ralph Lauren shirts. The boys looked precious, but it was 4:30 in the afternoon and Colin had skipped his afternoon nap. Needless to say, most of the shots were disasters, but we did manage to get a couple of pictures that can probably be used. I took these pictures with my camera while we were roaming the garden. Once Colin found that puddle, nothing would do but making a muddy mess. :-) We rolled up his jeans and let him have at it. You will also note Jackson and Colin hugging...they were so sweet!! It melted the whole family to see how much they love each other! Precious cousins!! This last shot is one of my favorites of Colin...he is turning into such a little boy! Look at that smile!!
